Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese, and a good source of folate and potassium. Strawberries, like other berries, are famous in the phytonutrient world as a rich source of phenols such as anthocyanin (which provides their deep, red colour) and ellagitannin.
One cup of halved strawberries provides 50 calories, 0g fat, 12g carbohydrate, 3g dietary fiber, and 1g protein.
Packaging
Strawberries are packaged in transparent clam shell cases to protect them from bruising during delivery. Clam shell cases also allow the strawberries to breath while in storage and limit human interaction with the strawberries helping to prevent food contamination.
