TORONTO -- Canada eats more ketchup per capita than our U.S. neighbours but…not Finland. Finland? Weird! To put a stake in the ground and prove Canada has the most heart for ketchup, Heinz Canada is launching #CanadaLovesKetchup, a national rallying cry that sets out to celebrate and share Canada's undeniable love for ketchup.

A recent survey revealed that 87% of Canadians currently have a bottle of ketchup in their refrigerator, so there's no question that Canadians are in a committed relationship with ketchup. In fact, 56% of Canadians say that ketchup is their favourite condiment and 62% call it "Canada's condiment," yet we still don't eat the most ketchup in the world. This summer, Heinz Canada is encouraging Canadians to try and beat Finland by showing their love for ketchup. "We are proud to be in the majority of Canadian households and play a role in elevating iconic summer moments from coast-to-coast," said Dana Somerville, Head of Brand Building and Innovation at Kraft Heinz Canada. "This summer, we're calling all Canadians to show us how they eat their ketchup, share their quirky ketchup confessions and hacks with #CanadaLovesKetchup. We're also encouraging Canadians to pick up a free personalized bottle of Heinz Ketchup at our mobile pop-up GIF shop and share it on social." Heinz Canada will be launching its GIF Shop on May 12 in Toronto – a mobile pop-up ketchup tour that will visit cities across Canada this summer, giving out free personalized glass bottles of Heinz Ketchup with a customized GIF that comes to life through augmented reality. In addition, Heinz is launching @CanadaLovesKetchup on Instagram, sharing memorable ketchup hacks and confessions from Canadians, recipes and fun content from ketchup-loving influencers who love it so much, they even rock it in their daily fashion. The GIF Shop will be at iconic summer events, including the Calgary Stampede, Burlington Music Festival, Taste of the Danforth, The Canadian National Exhibition and Mondial de la Bière, among others. How can Canadians get involved? Follow Heinz Ketchup Canada on Instagram at @CanadaLovesKetchup, check out the campaign launch video and show their love this summer with #CanadaLovesKetchup.
