New web tool allows Canadians to add their voice in support of a stable and sustainable Canadian Arctic Surf Clam fishery.
GRAND BANK, NL -- The Mayor of the Town of Grand Bank, NL, called on Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Fisheries and Oceans Minister Dominic Leblanc, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould, and all Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament to immediately intervene and take corrective steps to protect Canada's sustainable Arctic Surf Clam fishery, including support for the Grand Bank plan.

Rex C. Matthews, Mayor of Grand Bank, said: "As Minister Leblanc said, Arctic Surf Clam quota belongs to Canadians. However, Canadians know fairness and what's happening to the community of Grand Bank is not fair."

Grand Bank, Newfoundland and Labrador, is the heart of Canada's Arctic Surf Clam fishery, home to innovative processing facilities, a modern fleet of highly specialized harvesting vessels, and the hardworking men and women who've made the fishery an international success over the last 30 years.

"With a click on http://GrandBankPlan.ca, you can make a difference," said Mayor Matthews on the new tool that empowers Canadians to easily add their voice in support of a stable and sustainable Arctic Surf Clam fisheries management.

"It is time to stop dividing communities and start bringing people together," said Mayor Matthews. "Support the Grand Bank plan and let's stop Canada's Arctic Surf Clam calamity before it's too late."
