TORONTO -- Ontario Craft Brewers (OCB), the voice of craft brewing in Ontario, recently launched its Great Beer. Better Access. campaign. The provincial government is currently consulting on potential changes to the alcohol retail landscape in Ontario, for which the OCB applauds the government. The goal of the OCB's campaign is to encourage craft beer lovers to participate in that consultation and help ensure any changes include more access to locally-made craft beer in Ontario, as well as, more choice on where to buy it.

"The simple truth about locally-made craft beer is that when people get to try it, they love it," says Scott Simmons, President, Ontario Craft Brewers. "The Ford government's pledge to open up Ontario's alcohol retail system is great news for craft beer drinkers. We finally have an opportunity to build a retail system that makes it easier to find more locally-made craft beer on more local shelves. Today, we are launching this campaign to encourage all craft beer lovers to make it clear that more access to craft beer should be a key part of the new system."

Ontario has some of the best craft beer in the world, but the current retail system can often make it hard for consumers to buy it. Expanding the sale of beer to allow more craft beer to be sold in more places will help more beer drinkers enjoy Ontario's amazing local beer. It will also help local breweries create more jobs, drive opportunities and investment, and build stronger communities.

The OCB is encouraging all craft beer drinkers to visit www.craftbeerfreedom.ca to thank the PC government for its commitment to open up Ontario's retail system and to call for greater access to locally-made craft beer on more local shelves. The campaign, which will run for the next two months, will use a number of tools to mobilize craft beer lovers, including:
  • Digital Advertising
  • Media Outreach
  • Brewery Access
  • Partnerships with local Craft Beer Festivals

"This is our chance to help fix the system," concludes Simmons. "The campaign's message is simple – thank you to the Ford government for opening up the system and we encourage everyone to visit www.craftbeerfreedom.ca to make sure the changes give people more access to and choice of Ontario craft beer."
