Following the fourth Joy of Eating Better food drive that was held from November 12 until December 30, 2015, IGA and Les Marchés Tradition merchants are happy to be donating more than $860,000 in food and cash to some 200 charitable organizations across Quebec and New Brunswick. Benefits throughout the regions IGA and Les Marchés Tradition grocers take their community involvement to heart. Their numerous activities held throughout the year culminated in the Joy of Eating Better food drive. This large-scale fundraiser provides support to local organizations at a time of year when the need for food assistance is so strongly felt. Joining the two banners together in this appeal to people's generosity resulted in a 13% increase over last year's donations. Quebec and New Brunswick merchants are very proud of these results and wish to offer their heartfelt thanks to their customers who gave so generously to make this edition of the food drive the great success that it was. It's in the bag Once again this year, IGA and Les Marchés Tradition customers were able to purchase $10 bags filled with seven products that were carefully selected by Sobeys Québec nutritionists. The simplicity and pertinence of the "pick it up, pay for it, drop it in" formula was popular with store customers, who purchased over 37,000 bags that were then donated to families in need. The joy of sharing Since May of 2014, all the actions of IGA and Les Marchés Tradition grocers have aligned with The Joy of Eating Better movement. Cooking differently and more often, discovering local and international flavours, eating healthier, and making responsible choices are the four pillars of this philosophy. The Joy of Eating Better food drive falls right in line with this positioning. Also read, IGA CO-OP and Les Marchés Tradition CO-OP supermarkets welcome 11 new food stores into their ranks.
